Basic Electrical Theory
What is Electricity?
Electricity is a natural phenomena concerning the movement and forces of
sub-atomic paricles called electrons.
In this section of the website we will explore how and why electricity happens and more about what it is. Basic in this context means right at the very begining. Looking at electons and atoms and how their properties give rise to electricity
To start is a brief history of mankinds knowledge of electricity.
Then we will look at the structure of an atom, where the electrons originally come from.
There is an explanation of The Law of Charge which is about the force at work around electons and other particles.
We have to explore Centrifugal force which explains why the atom doesn't collapse in on itself.
Those spining electrons that cause electrical charge, Valence electrons are discussed next.
And when they are knocked out of orbit Electron flow occurs.
We now understand electricity flowing in a conductor so it's time to think about Insulators.
Finally in this section the strange properties of neither conductor nor insulator, the Semiconductors.
